Hundreds of Jobs Planned For Elkhart County

Two recently approved tax abatements could mean hundreds of jobs for Elkhart County. Our partners at Fox 28-TV in South Bend report Nevada-based Energy-Inc. is looking to set up shop in Middlebury and create 500 jobs. The green company transforms waste into energy products. The other company, Truck Accessory Group, is already in Elkhart County and plans to invest more than $1 million and create 60 jobs.
Energy-Inc. is expected to hire 200 people by the end of year for the start of production. The company hopes to hire an additional 300 workers by next spring.
Truck Accessory Group says it could take a year or two before they can hire all 60 employees.
The Elkhart County Chamber says because of these tax breaks, more than 3,000 jobs could be on the way.
